Year End Pick-Up & Drop-Off

Dear Joshua Dixon Families,                                                                             May 11, 2020

In order to ensure continuity of necessary work, and while placing good health procedures and social distancing protocols in place, the office at Joshua Dixon has reopened for essential personnel only.  That said, we are limiting building visitors to necessary business only.  So as to be sure appropriate personnel are available and to make certain proper social distancing can be maintained, we encourage you to call before making the trip over to the building.  Handling what we can over the phone is the preferred method.

A plan has been put in place for parents/students to retrieve medications, inhalers, report cards, yearbooks, and student personal belongings, as well as, to return ukuleles, tuners, technology, library books, and any instructional packet assignments.  The majority will be curb-side including an outdoor lost and found table.  As you pull-up, please let us know the student’s name(s) and we would be happy to get their belongings and collect any other items being returned.  Please know, if you are returning technology, that the check-in process will take a few minutes, thus please be prepared to park and wait while personnel go through a technology return checklist.  Assigned days are as follows…

TUES.             MAY 26, 2020            8:00-2:00           LAST NAME BEGINNING WITH  A-F

WED.              MAY 27, 2020            8:00-2:00           LAST NAME BEGINNING WITH  G-L

THURS.          MAY 28, 2020            8:00-2:00           LAST NAME BEGINNING WITH  M-R

FRI.                 MAY 29, 2020            8:00-2:00           LAST NAME BEGINNING WITH  S-Z

If students within the same family have different last names, please use the oldest Dixon sibling’s last name to come for all.  This way you will only need to come once.

Drop-off also includes Preschool Registration Packets, and required Kindergarten Registration items (copies of birth certificate, immunization records, social security card, and custodial/residential paperwork-if applicable).

The custodial staff at Joshua Dixon has intensified their cleaning and disinfecting measures which includes in-building signage regarding social distancing and good hygiene habits.  Additionally, observing public health and community safety guidelines, laws, and mandates, the following CDC recommendations are encouraged:

•Maintaining 6-ft. social distancing •Wearing face coverings in public settings •Practicing good hygiene

As we maintain contact with local health officials and continually assess the school closure related to the status of this novel virus, our focus in the fall will be reading, math, core work skills, and health and well-being, which will expectantly close potential gaps from the past 10-week remote learning situation.

Although we do not know what the 2020-21 school year will look like.  LEARNING CONTINUES!  It could be back to a ‘new’ normal with students returning, a hybrid version with face to face and remote learning measures, or an extended closure.  Whether we are faced with a modified format or not, we will continue to remain connected and offer the best educational opportunities for your children.

Included below are sites you may find helpful during this time of uncertainty.  Please do not hesitate to call with any questions.  I cannot wait to see everyone again, especially the children.  Have a safe and enjoyable summer.

Warmly,

Mrs. Sharshan
