Two students on the carpet reading books

Right to Read Week at Joshua Dixon Elementary School is March 9-13.

Different activities are planned throughout the week, including Stop Drop and Reads, special visitors, and door decorating.

Our goal is 40,000 minutes read for the entire week. Top readers from each grade level will receive a prize at the end of the week. Every night make sure to read for at least 20 minutes and bring back your slip the next day. Of course if you want to be a TOP READER you will have to read more than 20 minutes a night. Simply fill out more slips and turn them into your teacher each morning! Your teachers have copies of the slips for you.

IMPORTANT: If your child reads more than 20 minutes a night, you will need to fill out a slip for each 20 minutes they have read. You cannot write over 20 minutes on one slip or they will not be counted towards your child’s reading minutes.

Example: If your child read 60 minutes one night, they would need three slips with 20 minutes written on each slip.
