An additional health and safety measure to disinfect all surfaces in school buildings has taken place throughout the Columbiana Exempted Village School District. Electrostatic sprayers coated surfaces with 360 degree antimicrobial protection prior to students returning from remote learning on January 19, 2021.

L.A. Coatings applied antimicrobial services in all school buildings to disinfect and protect surfaces. Here’s how the process works: the microscopic, carbon-based structure of the antimicrobials carries an electric charge that draws pathogens down a carbon chain that destroys the cell membrane of any microorganisms that land on it. Simply put, antimicrobials do not kill germs chemically, but mechanically. The lack of chemical agents makes them completely safe to humans and pets. In addition to protecting surfaces from viruses and bacteria, it also fights mold, mildew and fungi.

The antimicrobial protection is another layer of protection, on top of ones already in place, to fight COVID-19 in the district’s three school buildings. Health and safety measures already in place include touchless hand washing stations in every building, thermal temperature scanners, hand sanitizer readily available throughout all buildings, regularly disinfecting high touch surfaces areas, plexiglass and dividers and use of Electrostatic Disinfectant Machines after school hours.
