Clipper amateur radio shared their success with the Board of Education at the January Board of Education Meeting!  

Our Middle school students participated in the fall school round up October 18-22, 2021.  The school round up is when youth amateur radio club stations, like our club, K8LPS devote a week in making amateur radio contact all over the United States (and THE WORLD).  Youth amateur radio clubs such as K8LPS (CLIPS) are the ultimate STEM activity encompassing science, technology, engineering and mathematics in every faced of  the art and science of amateur radio.  In addition to STEM activities the students also  learn geography, communication skills and team work.  There are several students studying to become licensed individuals, and we will be hold a test session in January to get their FCC technician license.  Additionally, students will have the opportunity to earn an industry credential.

Our Students (K8LPS)  took number ONE in the nation in the middle school /Jr High category by obtaining a score of 90,134 points, beating the nearest competition by nearly 50,000 points.  K8LPS youth contacted an talked to 39 states, 28 other schools, 1 foreign country , 1 other amateur radio club and 4 Canadian Provinces.
