Congratulations to our Clippers Robotics teams that participated in this weekend‘s CCTC VEX Competition!

Middle School Recap:

Our robotics club is excited to announce great results from our League Finals that took place over the weekend (Sat. Feb. 10th). Overall, 3 teams were able to bring home 6 trophies AND qualify for the State Championship in Marion, Ohio on March 2nd! Two CMS Teams: Team "Num Num Num," comprised of drivers Mya Fisk and David Ross, as well as Emma Bacha and Parker Townsend, alongside Team, "1984," comprised of drivers Michael Conrad and Aiden Rosario, as well as Chase Dugas and Oliver Vennetti took home 2 Teamwork Championship Awards! During their match, both teams scored the highest at the event with a total of 88 points! Team "Num, Num, Num," earned a school record of 3 awards that included the Teamwork Championship Award, as well as the Robot Skills Champion Award (earning a high score of 90 points), and the Innovate Award, which is a prestigious award based on a "team's ability to implement an efficient and effective robot design process." Team "1984," brought home 2 awards that included not only the Teamwork Championship Award, but also the Amaze Award, which is a technical award given to an "amazing, well rounded, and top performing robot," while also scoring 72 points in robot skills. One of our 5th grade teams, Team "Cinnamon Roll," composed of drivers James Conrad and Sammy Harberson, along with Parker Clark and Kolton Ingledue brought home the Excellence Award, which is "the highest award presented in the VEX IQ Challenge. This award is presented to a team that exemplifies overall excellence in creating a high quality VEX robotics program!" Team Cinnamon Roll also attained a high score of 74 points during their teamwork match, as well as 72 points in robot skills! In their match, Beans Fan Club (7th grade team), composed of drivers Zachary McCool and Riley Savon, as well as Ashmit Kaur and Zoe Krawchyk earned a high score of 74 points, along with 43 points in robot skills! Team MLRS (5th grade) composed of drivers Ruby Ellis and Mason Szmara, as well as Lily Stepan and Sarah Borchardt scored 49 points, along with 64 points in robot skills. Lastly, Team Airplane (8th grade) made up of drivers Eric Hepner and Seth Martin, alongside Preston Lawton and Eric Nelson earned 38 points in their match, as well as 41 points in robot skills. High School Recap:

The Clipper Bot Squad A (primary competitors Kelsey Cameron and Paxton Loosli, with Deron Winnale also participating) once again had a very competitive season in the Columbiana County VEX league, ending the season in 2nd place out of 27 teams! Bot Squad A punched their ticket to the state tournament by not only winning the CCCTC competition, but also receiving the Excellence Award! Furthermore, the Clipper Bot Squad B team (primary competitors Connor Dattilio and Andrew Kridler with Jarod Bates also participating) received the Sportsmanship Award. We are extremely proud of our representatives from Columbiana and our advisor, Mrs. McCormick!
