4th Graders Learn from City Official

Did you know that in 1805 a gentleman named Joshua Dixon stood in the town 'circle' and saw trees all around him but still decided it would be a great place for a town!  Councilman, Rick Noel, shared city facts, rules and regulations with 4th Grade Students.  He also pointed out that Joshua Dixon's daughter built the first home in Columbiana.  He encouraged the students to ask their families to visit Firestone Park, and to go to the far end of the pool parking lot where they will find a plaque identifying the home's location, along with a natural spring.  Mr. Noel talked to students about how the city's rules are made and the services the city provides to the citizens.  He told students that the town was run by the mayor until 1837 when the town's folks decided they wanted elected officials.  Thank you Mr. Noel for all of the neat information!
